Two members of the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC), which is expected to expose corruption and wrongdoing, have been charged with cooking up a case against a crime branch inspector for demanding a bribe of Rs20 lakh from an accused involved in a murder case.

A Delhi court on Friday ordered registration of a criminal case against two senior police officers on the basis of a complaint filed by former crime branch inspector KG Tyagi.

Joint commissioner of police (vigilance) N Dileep Kumar and former deputy commissioner of police of the anti-corruption branch, Delhi, ID Shukla have been charged with forging official records to implicate a police inspector in a corruption case.

The court has directed the police to file a status report by January 10, the next date of hearing.

Tyagi alleged that the fake corruption case registered against him on October 17, 2008, led to his arrest and finally suspension.
He said the accused destroyed intercepted conversations that were crucial as evidence.

Tyagi also accused the two cops of forging official records to strengthen their case.
