The Ram temple issue is a non-political movement which is related to Indian self-respect and not communal pride, Hindutva activist Sadhvi Ritamhara said here today.

Addressing people at a Dharma Sabha organised by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Ritambhara said a "magnificent temple" of Ram would be built in Ayodhya.

Criticising allegations of saffron terror and the equating of RSS with SIMI, she said RSS workers have always been ready to face any challenge whenever the country was in trouble.

VHP leader Vinayak Rao said the Muslim community should show generosity and the central government should hand over 70 acres of land under its possession for construction of the Ram temple.

"We are not against Muslims, but they should show generosity and come forward in support of construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya as it is an issue related with a national great personality - Ram," Rao said.

He said the VHP has met many MPs to press their demand to get a bill passed in the Parliament for construction of a Ram temple in Ayodhya.

"Ram is not only a religious character, but a national great personality also. In the Constitution, there is a picture of Ram which establishes that Ram is the subject of nationalism and Muslims should also understand and accept the fact," he said.

"Students in Indonesia are being taught about the great personality Ram, and Muslims here should contribute to the construction of a Ram temple at his birth place in India," Rao said.
