The lawyer notary VH Kanara, on Tuesday, moved an application for anticipatory bail in the district sessions court alleging that the Ghatlodia police were putting pressure on him to implicate Congress leader, Arjun Modhwadia, in the case filed by KD Panth.
Kanara's lawyer, BM Mangukiya, wanted an urgent hearing on Tuesday afternoon itself saying that sections for conspiracy had been added to the case. In his FIR, Panth has alleged that he was forced to sign an allegedly fake affidavit by suspended IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt. The affidavit was then notarised by Kanara at his office.

The court, however, adjourned the hearing of Kanara's petition to October 20 after public prosecutor PM Trivedi made a statement that the police will not arrest him till that date.

In his application for anticipatory bail, Kanara has alleged that the police are trying to use him to get to Modhwadia. He has alleged that on October 13, he was called for interrogation and pressurised to make a statement that Modhwadia was one of the culprits and an accused in the case.

He has further stated that he was again called on October 15 for interrogation by the police. On this day, he was questioned for all most two hours, during which the only questions he was asked was about the murder case of Mulu Modhvadiya, a close friend of Arjun Modhwadia. Mulu was murdered allegedly by Bhima Dhulla, the brother-in-law of sitting MLA Babu Bokharia.

Kanara has also mentioned in his petition that Jagruti Pandya, wife of slain BJP leader Haren Pandya, has suspected Dulla of involvement in Pandya's murder.

"Panth's affidavit has nothing to do with the trial of Mulu Modhwadiya murder case. Hence all the questions put to me by the investigating office were useless," Kanara has alleged in his petition.
