Arrest four pimps and rescue five girls, including a minor, from a flat.
The Ahmedabad crime branch on Tuesday busted a sex den in the posh locality of Vastrapur. Police arrested four pimps and rescued five girls, including a minor girl from the area. The girls were brought from Bangalore, Delhi, Kolkata and Vejalpur area of the city.
A team of crime branch officials raided flat number A-1 of Sagar Apartments in Vastrapur and found five girls and two men in a compromised position. VH Kalaswa, crime branch PSI who busted the racket, said that the girls were brought from various part of the country.
Kalaswa further said that of the total earnings from the flesh trade, 50 percent was paid to the pimps while the remaining 50% was distributed among the girls.
The police arrested Pinkal alias Pinal Shah (24), Payal Dave (22), Dharmesh Dave and Kalu alias Sunil Shah. On the other hand, it rescued Rani Rajput of Bangalore, Kiran Patel of Vejalpur, Geeta Kaur of Delhi and Tina Bengali of Kolkata. All of them were operating from the flat owned by one Raju Desai. “They paid Rs6,000 per month as rent to the owner,” said a source in the crime branch.
Pinkal and Payal managed the girls while customers were brought to the flat in an autorickshaw by Dharmesh Dave. “Dave would find customers and bring them to the flat,” the source added.
All the arrested and rescued were handed over to the Vastrapur police, who are investigating the case. According to a source close to development the pimps were in contact with other agents across the country and have a large clientele in the city.
“Many high-profile customers visited the sex den; we will conduct a thorough investigation in the case,” said a source in the Vastrapur police. This is the second such incident, where a brothel has been busted in a posh locality of the city. However, it is usually difficult to identify and crack such brothels in the posh localities.
