Vasant Sathe was an idealist: Prithviraj Chavan

Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan today said that senior Congress leader Vasant Sathe, who passed away last night in Gurgaon, was an idealist.

Expressing grief over Sathe's death, Chavan said in a statement here that he was known to be "one of the closest and trusted aides of late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi."

Sathe started his political career with participation in the Quit India movement of 1942, handled several important portfolios in the union cabinet, and carved a niche for himself. After retirement from politics, he immersed himself in writing, Chavan noted.
