Vaiko appears in court for defamation case

DMKs headquarters principal secretary, Arcot N Veerasamy had filed the petition on Karunanidhi's behalf on June 8 seeking legal action against Vaiko for the remarks made by him at a public meeting.

MDMK chief Vaiko today appeared before a court here in a defamation case filed against him by Tamil Nadu chief minister M Karunanidhi and was furnished a copy of the complaint. The chief metropolitan magistrate posted the matter for questioning on July 14.
   
DMKs headquarters principal secretary, Arcot N Veerasamy had filed the petition on Karunanidhi's behalf on June 8 seeking legal action against Vaiko for the remarks made by him at a public meeting in Chennai recently.

Charging Vaiko with using defamatory and derogatory language against Karunanidhi regarding the attack on film director Bharathiraja's office, the complaint alleged that the "malicious" remarks were made to tarnish the image of the DMK leader.
