Uttar Pradesh launches scheme to financially assist poor families

Under the scheme, financial assistance will be extended to 30 lakh families, that have neither received the Below Poverty Line (BPL) ration card nor any type of pension, to fulfil their daily needs.

The Uttar Pradesh government will implement Mahamaya Gareeb Aarthik Madad Yojna - a scheme to provide financial assistance to poor and destitute from October 1, social welfare minister Indrajeet Saroj said here today.
 
Under the scheme, financial assistance will be extended to 30 lakh families, that have neither received the Below Poverty Line (BPL) ration card nor any type of pension, to fulfil their daily needs, he said.
 
He said that the beneficiaries will get financial assistance at the rate of Rs300 per month in two half-yearly instalments.
 
Saroj also directed the officials to verify income and caste proof of persons covered under various schemes of social welfare department and lodge FIR, if their certificates were found to be fake.
