Uttar Pradesh engineers on token strike

Blaming the Uttar Pradesh police for failing to arrest those involved in attacking a senior PWD engineer in Varanasi, UP Engineers Association (UPEA) today went on a token strike in the state.
   
The engineers association is demanding immediate arrest of those behind the attack on executive engineer JK Singh in Varanasi in his office premises on March 25.
   
The association has expressed serious concern over the safety of engineers on field duty and asked the authorities to provide adequate security to them.
   
Singh was shot at and injured and his condition is critical.
       
This is the ninth major attack on an engineer on field posting. PWD executive engineer Manoj Gupta was murdered allegedly by a ruling BSP MLA in Auraiya two years back.
