India strongly feels the issue of tackling safe havens for terrorists in Pakistan should get equal importance in US's Af-Pak strategy to usher in normalcy in strife-torn Afghanistan.

Sources said the genealogy of terrorism in Afghanistan and Pakistan is the same. They hoped that the coalition forces led by the US will remain in Afghanistan till the situation stabilises and the Afghan national army gets total control of the country.

The sources also said there was no question of Indian troops being involved in the US-led operations in Afghanistan.

US president Barack Obama had last week unveiled his new Af-Pak strategy promising to send 30,000 additional troops to Afghanistan to bring stability in that country.

They said the prime minister hopes to ask the Russian leadership during his talks in Moscow tomorrow to impress upon Pakistan to stop cross-border terrorism trageting India.

During an interview to the Russian media, Singh had said that Russia as a "great power" could convince Pakistan not to use terror against India as an instrument of state policy.

Without naming Pakistan, Singh had said that India faced an "onset" of terrorism aided, inspired and instigated by that country.

Singh had also said that if Pakistan territory  ceases to be used by terrorists India saw immense  opportunities for the two countries to work together in  cooperation.
