"Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University (PDPU) is doing an excellent job in terms of tying up with American companies and educational institutions for better and wider opportunities for students," said US under-secretary of commerce for international trade, Francisco Sánchez.

Sánchez, who is visiting India, was overwhelmed with the manner in which PDPU in a short span of its existence had collaborated with institutions in USA. "While only a few companies have been signed so far, it is important that more educational institutions like PDPU from India collaborate with American firms. This will help students gain internship programs and know-how on the industry and their working culture," he said.

Sánchez also gave open invitation to young and budding entrepreneurs to invest in America by setting up their own ventures, thereby strengthening ties with America and its government.

Talking about the economic conditions in USA, Sánchez said:  "The US economy is moving on the right path…the percentage of unemployment is now 8.3% and nearly 340,000 jobs have been created in the manufacturing sector. With ties between USA and India getting stronger year-on-year, it is important for students to be get first-hand experience of each of the country's working cultures thereby building stronger commercial relationships."

Sánchez is in Gujarat and he is leading the first-ever 'Ports and Maritime Technology Trade Mission' to India. Officials of 12 US ports and maritime companies are accompanying him on the mission, with a goal of finding Indian partners to help them participate in India's various port expansion projects.
