The Samajwadi Party, which supports the UPA from outside, today charged the government with behaving in an arrogant manner by not agreeing to accept an adjournment motion in the Lok Sabha on the prise rise issue.

"The government is behaving in an arrogant manner," SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav told reporters after Speaker Meira Kumar rejected adjournment notices on the issue.

Samajwadi Party has 22 members in the Lok Sabha.

Holding the government responsible for the House not being allowed to function, Yadav said it was for the UPA to find a way out of the present situation.

"Government does not want the House to function and that is why all this is happening," he added.

Asked if the Samajwadi Party would take to the streets to protest on the issue, the SP chief said, "As far as issues related to common people are concerned, we have already stated that we will stick to them."

He said the party has always said it will not allow communal forces to come into power and the government should not try to take undue advantage of its stand.
