University students demanding release of pending scholarship money were today lathicharged by police when they were tried to enter the premises of the Rajasthan government's social justice department during a demonstration here.

Over a dozen students have been arrested, superintendent of police (Jaipur South) Jose Mohan said. 

"They tried to enter the building and damage property following which police restored to cane charge. However, the situation was brought under control soon," police sources said.

Meanwhile, additional director (Scholarship), Social Justice Department Ashok Jangid said efforts were on to clear all pending scholarship dues.
