Union home secretary on 3-day Meghalaya visit

Union home secretary GK Pillai today began three-day Meghalaya visit, during which he would meet director generals of police of the eight North Eastern states and review law and order situation in the region.

Pillai, who arrived in Shillong via Guwahati, is scheduled to take part in a couple of Assam Rifles function also.

Official sources said Union home secretary is scheduled to attend a meeting of top security officials of NE states, including the DGPs, at North East Police Academy (NEPA) here tomorrow morning.

He will later hold a meeting with Meghalaya government officials and review the law and order situation, the sources added.

Pillai will also participate in a couple of programmes at Assam Rifles headquarters here tomorrow and on Saturday, before returning to New Delhi on Saturday afternoon, the sources said.
