Unidentified persons slit throat of girl in Jammu

Two unidentified men slit throat of a teenaged girl after they failed in their attempt to rape her in Gangyal area of Jammu city, police said here.

The incident took place late last night when Bindu Devi, a resident of Bihar who had come to her sister's house, was sleeping on rooftop of the house in Gangyal area of the city, they said.

Two masked men attempted to rape her, they said, adding she hit them with a rod following which the duo slit her throat with a knife and ran away.

Devi was admitted to a hospital where her condition was stated to be stable.
