Undertrial escapes from police custody in Uttar Pradesh

An undertrial fled from police custody after a court hearing here following which two police constables, accompanying him, have been placed under suspension and arrested.

Govind, an accused in a fraud case, accompanied by two police constables was taken to a court in Agra for the hearing yesterday.

He was being taken back to Etah Jail where he was lodged when he fled from police custody here last night, they said, adding that a hunt has been launched to nab him.

Meanwhile, both the constables have been suspended and also taken into custody, they added.
