Under-construction flyover collapse injures 12 in Uttar Pradesh

Over 12 labourers were seriously injured and at least 20 feared trapped under the debris when an under-construction flyover on Faizabad-Lucknow highway collapsed this morning.

The flyover in Rudauli town of the district, which was under-construction for last two years, collapsed seriously injuring over 12 labourers, district magistrate (Faizabad) MP Agarwal told PTI.

Rescue work was on to pull out at least 20 labourers feared trapped in the debris, he said.

The injured were rushed to different hospitals in Faizabad, Lucknow and Primary health centre at Rudauli.

According to an eye-witness, soon after the work started for the day a 50-metre long portion of the bridge fell down on about 40 labourers on the site seriously injuring some of them.
