The ULFA leaders closeted with the prime minister for about 15 minutes and are understood to have discussed about the initiatives taken to bring a lasting peace in Assam.

Sources, however, described the meeting as a courtesy call by the ULFA leaders as Singh represents Assam in Rajya Sabha.

On Thursday, the eight-member ULFA delegation met home minister P Chidambaram and home secretary Gopal K Pillai and began the process of dialogue, after three decades of insurgency.
