The Shahpur crossroads that lie on the Koba-Gandhinagar stretch were the scene of a horrific accident involving a high-end luxury car which killed two young men and injured two others in the early hours of Saturday.

According to the FIR filed by Anand Kathatiya, a relative of one of the deceased, four youths, Palash Patel, Jarvish Mistry, Jainil Shah and Tarang Amin were travelling in an Audi luxury car when it struck a newly-built speedbreaker on the road and turned turtle. The incident took place around 2.30 am on Saturday.

Palash Patel, 19, a student of Nirma University, who resides in Suryadeep Bungalows at Vastrapur and Jarvish Mistry, the son of Umesh Mistry, director of the Audi Supernova showroom on SG Road, died on the spot.

Amin who is an engineering student from Vadodara and Jainil Shah who is a law student in Delhi, were seated in the rear seat of the car and were taken to Samved Hospital in sector 7 of Gandhinagar where their condition is said to be serious. The boys were headed to Patel’s second residence in Gandhinagar when the incident took place. They lost control as they were taken unaware by the newly laid speedbreaker at Shahpur crossroads.

The car turned turtle and landed on its roof. It flipped so many times that even the airbags, which inflate in case of accidents in such cars, exploded in the impact. Incidentally, the police are inquiring who the car belongs to. The two boys who died were both only sons of their families.
