Two SIMI members arrested in Ahmedabad

Two men suspected to be associated with banned organisation Students of Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) have been arrested ahead of the Rathyatra here, police said today.

One Hasim Raza and Abu Siddiqui were arrested last night from the Prem Darwaja area of the city, they said.

According to crime branch officials, a revolver was found in their possession which has been seized.

The accused are being interrogated to find the motive behind their presence in the city prior to the 133rd Rathyatra of Lord Jagannath, which is scheduled tomorrow.
