Two persons were killed today when their motorcycle collided with a bus near Mabi Chowk in Mabbi in Bihar's Darbhanga district, police sources said.

The accident took place as the motorcycle-borne duo tried to overtake a speeding bus, the sources said.

Virendra Mahto, who was driving the two-wheeler, died on the spot while the pillion rider Ranjeet Mahto died of his injuries in a hospital, they said.

The bus driver fled from the spot along with his vehicle after the incident, the sources said.

The angry locals blocked the road for about four hours to protest against the death of the duo due to rash driving by the bus driver and demanded compensation to their families.

Senior police officials, including DSP Ashfaq Ansari, rushed to the spot and pursuaded the protesters to withdraw their agitation and assured compensation to the victims.
