With addition of these prisons at Vadodara & Patan, number of all-women jails in state will increase to six.

In an effort to provide better accommodation to women prisoners, the state home ministry is constructing two new jails for women, in Vadodara and Patan. These establishments will have a capacity of 200 prisoners each.
The women's prison to come up in Vadodara will be an extension of Vadodara Central Jail while the one in Patan will be called Sub-Jail Patan, informed PC Thakor, additional DGP (Jails) of Gujarat.
To be built at a cost of Rs1 crore each, these prisons will constitute Anganwadis, primary school for children, a kitchen, beauty parlour, library and gardens for constructive recreation. Women will also be educated in computers.
