Two more cases of swine flu in Punjab

As many as 10 people, who came in contact with the couple, have been admitted to the the Isolation Ward of the Civil Hospital.

A couple, who recently returned from Thailand, have tested positive for swine flu here.

The blood samples of the couple identified as Kulwant Singh and his wife Anita Kalra were sent to the National Institute of Communicable Diseases at New Delhi which confirmed the virus, Dr SS Walia, Civil Surgeon at the Civil Hospital told reporters here today.

As many as 10 people, who came in contact with the couple, have been admitted to the the Isolation Ward of the Civil Hospital and their blood samples sent for tests, he said.

A team of doctors has been formed to look out for  a person, who came into contact with the couple after their return from Thailand.
 
Earlier last month, as many as eight students, who went on an educational trip to United States, had contracted the virus.

With the detection of the two new cases in the city, the number of swine flu cases in Punjab has climbed to 13 including nine at Jalandhar and one each in Fatehgarh Sahib, Amritsar, Gurdaspur and Hoshiapur.
