Two militants gunned down, explosives found in Meghalaya

Two militants of the Garo National Liberation Army were gunned down and arms and explosives seized during an encounter in Meghalaya's East Garo Hills district, police said today.

Two militants of the Garo National Liberation Army were gunned down and arms and explosives seized during an encounter in Meghalaya's East Garo Hills district, police said today.

Seven cadre of the group were moving towards Amren when they were challenged by a joint team of army and police near Resubelpara on Saturday midnight.

A gunbattle ensured and while two of them were killed, others managed to escape.

The slain rebels were identified as Patrick Sangma and Senbath Marak.

Two pistols, as many Chinese grenades, mobile phones, 9mm ammunition and some documents were seized from the slain
militants.
