In perhaps the first instance of its kind in Madhya Pradesh, two men entered into a wedlock here.
Israr, 25, a diploma holder in pharmacy, exchanged garlands and solemnised his marriage with Ayaz, 30, in Batti Chouraha area here yesterday.
After the ceremony, the duo, who have known each other for the past nine years, said "through marriage we have taken our love to its proper destination."
"We have not committed either a crime or a sin and no one should have any objection to it," they said.
The time when those who went in for such homosexual wedlocks were forced to live either under hiding or a sense of shame is gone, the couple said.
Homosexual couples should not shy away from expressing their love and boldly tell the society that their love for each other is not a crime, they added.
