Two jailed for life for killing minors in Orissa

Two persons were sentenced to life imprisonment today by the Additional District Judge, Deogarh, for killing four minor girls in 2004 after raping them.

ADJ Gobinda Chandra Panigrahi in his judgement found Dasaratha Chanchana (40) and Shyam Mahanandi (45) of Rangamatia village in Deogarh district, 150 km from here, guilty of killing the children aged between five and 10 years.

The two had raped the children before killing them and threw their bodies into a pond.

The judge also ordered the two to pay fines of Rs 25,000 each along with rigorous imprisonment.
