The Goa police have arrested two persons from Vasai for the recent death of a 16-year-old girl. Evita Rodrigues’ partially charred body was found at Verna, about 18 km from Panaji, on October 13.

Chandrakant Talwar, 35, and Syron Rodriguez, 20, both Goans, had earlier been arrested in a robbery case, deputy inspector-general of police Ravindra Yadav said on Friday.

Yadav said the team that made the arrests would reach Goa on Saturday, and only then would the police be able to provide details. Yadav did not rule out the possibility of the girl being a victim of a serial murderer.

Goa was hit by four murder cases over the week, starting last Saturday. Apart from Evita, the police had recovered three bodies of women over three days. Two of those bodies were partially burnt after strangulation and one death was due to a head injury, but the face was smashed to destroy evidence.
