At a time when the city is struck by the hooch tragedy, two persons, including a woman, were caught on Wednesday, consuming alcohol during a party.

The Gujarat University police nabbed the two after it received information about the liquor revelry from a professor of LD Engineering College.

The accused have been identified as Ankur Parimal Patel, 22, a resident of Neelmani Apartment on Gurukul road and Anoma Milan Contractor, 23, a resident of Shivanand Apartment, Ramdevnagar, Satellite.      

According to IA Pathan, PSI at the GU police station and investigating officer of the case, “They received a message on Wednesday night from a professor of LD Engineering College that some drunk youth had organised a party near the entrance gate of the college, and were creating a ruckus.”

The police acted on a tip off and rushed to the spot, where they caught Ankur and Anoma. A source said that while Ankur is a student of LD Engineering College and lives in the college hostel, Aroma works with a Mumbai-based firm. 

He also said that the two had created a scene at the police station and even threatened the police officials saying that they would lose their jobs if they lodged a complaint against them. The duo was released after their parents reached the police station and sought their bail.
