Two girls crushed to death as wall collapses in Tamil Nadu

Two girl children of an army soldier were killed and their mother seriously injured in a wall collapse in Coonoor in neighbouring hilly Nilgiris district following torrential rains lashing the region since last evening.

Under the impact of the rains, a retaining wall at Mount Pleasant residential area collapsed fell on a house, crushing the girls -- aged six and four -- to death, police said.

The mother of the children was seriously injured and had been admitted to the Military Hospital at nearby Wellington.

The two were children of a soldier in Madras Regiment Centre in Wellington now in Sikkim on deputation.
