Two buses collide, six killed on Borsad-Tarapur highway

One bus was going from Rajkot to Surat and the other from Surat to Amreli via Bhavnagar.

Six passengers of two private buses were killed in an accident near Borsad on Tuesday morning, police sources said. “Accident occurred near Swagat Hotel on Borsad-Tarapur state highway. The two buses collided  killing six and injuring 25,” said police inspector AG Gohil of Borsad.

One bus was going from Rajkot to Surat and the other from Surat to Amreli via Bhavnagar. “Driver of the former bus was reportedly trying to overtake a vehicle from the wrong side when he lost control and collided with the other bus. He was seriously injured and was taken to Baroda where he succumbed to injuries,”Gohil added.

Deceased have been identified as Yusuf Shamdar (driver), Ramesh Kukadia, Jignesh Gosai, Karamshi Katrodia, Mohan Chudasama and Vallabh Mandani.
