Two arrested in Uttar Pradesh for writing others' exam papers

A Special Task Force (STF) team from Lucknow busted a gang involved in writing exam papers on behalf of candidates during a banking entrance exam, a police source said.

On a tip-off, a raid was conducted during a competitive exam of the State Bank of India at Bal Vidya Mandir in kanpur and Navin Bajpai and Mukesh Yadav were arrested, STF superintendent of police (SP) Manoj Kumar Jha told Press Trust of India over phone from Lucknow.

The duo were writing exam in place of other examinees by replacing the photograph of real candidates in admit cards, he said.

Five more people who were running a coaching institute were arrested following interrogation of the two, Jha said.

The coaching was run by Bhupendra Verma and Subhash Verma and their gang was active in other states also apart from Uttar Pradesh and took lakhs of rupees from the candidates, the SP said.

STF team was interrogating the arrested and investigations are on, he said.
