In yet another crime against children reported on Monday, three unidentified men tried to kidnap two 13-year-old boys from Vatva area late on Sunday night. While one of the boys managed to escape the kidnappers' clutches, there is no sign of the other yet.

An attempt to kidnap complaint in the matter was registered with Vatva police by one Shilu Qureshi. He is father to Sarfaraz, who managed to escape from his kidnappers the previous night. His friend Imran is yet to be traced.

According to the complaint, Sarfaraz and Imran on Sunday night loitered into the woods while playing near their residence in Green Park Society, Vatva. Three unidentified individuals, one denim-clad while the others in a burqa, closed in and tried to muffle the boys away. Sarfaraz somehow managed to free himself but Imran was taken away.

However, in an interesting turn of events, Sarfaraz identified a man outside Vatva police station as one of his abductors. The incident happened when Qureshi and Sarfaraz, after lodging their complaint, were leaving the police station and they noticed a crowd beating up this man outside. Sarfaraz immediately recognised him as one of the abductors.

This further angered the mob, who then mauled the alleged kidnapper to unconsciousness. The man was admitted to LG Hospital. Police couldn't take his statement, stalling further investigation into the matter.
