The steering committee formed by the state government for chalking out plans for Surat-Navsari twin city project is expected to meet shortly to discuss methods for realising the project. All members of the committee will hold a meeting with the project consultant to prepare a rough design and plan for the project.

To balance development in South Gujarat, the state government approved the much-awaited project of Surat-Navsari twin city three months back and even formed a steering committee comprising all important government organisations to work for it. A meeting was also held between Lea Associates, consultant of the project, and the steering committee.

Another meeting between the two is expected in the coming two weeks, for preparing rough planning and design for the project. The planning which is to be done, includes preparation of proper transport network, housing societies, educational institutions, economic & industrial zones. Other important decisions will be related to from which area work has to be started by authorities.
"There is a lot to be done for developing this project, and at present infrastructure development is the highest priority. Road connectivity, bridges, alternate highways are basic things which are required for developing the twin city and to provide momentum to other phases of the plan.
