Troops rescue 30 persons stranded on mountain pass in Jammu and Kashmir

In swift action, Army troops deployed in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir rescued 30 people who were stranded on a mountain pass in inclement weather.

They were travelling to Tangdhar sector and got stranded yesterday at Sadna pass due to heavy snowfall. They were taken to safety by soldiers, a defence spokesman said today.

Over five feet of snow had accumulated in the past two days at the pass, the spokesman said. The troops provided food and shelter to those stranded, including women and children, he added.
