Trinamool Congress wins Kolkata South Lok Sabha seat

Trinamool Congress candidate Subroto Bakshi today defeated CPI(M)'s Ritobroto Banerjee by a record margin of 2,30,099 votes in the prestigious Kolkata South Lok Sabha seat by-election.

Trinamool Congress candidate Subroto Bakshi today defeated CPI(M)'s Ritobroto Banerjee by a record margin of 2,30,099 votes in the prestigious Kolkata South Lok Sabha seat by-election.

While Bakshi, the West Bengal PWD and Transport minister, polled 5,16,761 votes, CPI(M) candidate bagged 2,86,662 votes, official sources said here.

The seat fell vacant after Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee resigned after she became the chief minister of the state.
