Eminent lawyer Ram Jethmalani today came down heavily on the role of media saying the fourth estate should immediately stop indulging in 'trial-by-media' acts.

"Of late media acts as a court and passes judgment even before the court pronounces its verdict. This has to stop," Jethmalani said.

"Trial by media is nothing but breach of law. It amounts to contempt of the court," he said.

He was addressing a programme organized by Jain Seva Samiti and Shantaram Potdukhe College of Law here.

The noted advocate also said that he was in favour of declaring assets by the judges. "Even politicians should declare their assets," he added.
