Trench caves in at Gujarat: 3 labourers killed

Three labourers died while one other was injured when a trench where they were working caved in near Umaniyavadar village of Mahuva taluka in Bhavnagar, Gujarat today, police said.

The incident took place when the three men were excavating sand from the bed of river of Malan near Umaniyavadar village, they said.

According to police, while the workers were digging the trench its sides caved in burying four persons.

Three died on the spot while, one was injured and taken to the government hospital in Mahuva town, they said.

Those who died have been identified as Pratap Shekhalia, 18, Ashok Chudasama, 18 and Venu Mackwana, 28.

Police said that a case has been registered and further investigation in the matter was on.
