Travelocity India launches lowest price guarantee

Travelocity India, owned by Sabre Holdings Corporation, today launched lowest price guarantee on all flights and hotel rooms booked through its site covering 400 airlines and 100,000 hotels across the world.
    
"We have the technology that enables us to tap into various airlines as well as online travel agents and offer the best deals to our consumers. We offer the triple benefits of speed, convenience and Lowest Price Guaranteed to make an irresistible offer to savvy travellers," Travelocity India managing director Himanshu Singh told reporters here.
    
This guarantee is made possible by Travelocity's powerful search engine that trawls multiple travel service providers, including airlines and online travel agency (OTA) websites and highlights the lowest rate available.
    
"Last year was an extremely good year for Travelocity India. We outpaced the market growth rates to become the OTA with the highest growth rate in traffic by 256%, year on year as per comScore data. With this new initiative we look forward to a quantum leap in both, visitors and transactions
on our site," Singh added.
    
With gross booking of $10 billion annually, the company expects 100% growth in bookings year-on-year, he said.
    
The company has 14 basic smart stores and is planning to open 100 across the country by December 2011, he added.
    
India offers great business opportunities for the company in the Asia Pacific region both domestically and with the Outbound Flights and Hotels segments expected to grow at a CAGR upwards of 75%, Travelocity Asia Pacific Regional vice president Regional Roshan Mendis said. The total online travel business is likely to reach $5 billion by 2013, he said.
