Train services on Delhi-Ambala section resume

The services were disrupted since Tuesday as heavy rains submerged railway tracks at several places between Delhi and Ambala, with Shahbad Markanda and Mori under Delhi division being the worst hit.

Train services on the New Delhi-Ambala section, which were disrupted for the last three days following heavy rains in the region, resumed this morning after the tracks were repaired.

"Both the UP and Down lines were thrown open for traffic this morning," said a Northern Railway spokesperson, adding, only the Kalka-New Delhi Shatabdi Express was cancelled today due to technical reasons.
 
The services were disrupted since Tuesday as heavy rains submerged railway tracks at several places between Delhi and Ambala, with Shahbad Markanda and Mori under Delhi division being the worst hit.
 
Repair work was taken up on a war-footing with 500 men pressed for the job.
 
A large number of wagons were deployed to dump ash at sensitive points on the track between Shahbad Markanda and Mori, the spokesperson said.
 
General manager of Northern Railways and DRM Ambala besides senior railway officials were camping in the affected sections to ensure early resumption of train services, the spokesperson said.
 
More than a dozen trains were cancelled during the last three days to Haryana, Punjab and Jammu due to flooding of tracks.
