Train services disrupted in Lower Assam and North Bengal

The police have picked up nearly 200 picketers who were squatting on the tracks but the blockade was continuing with protestors not allowing trains to move out of the stations.

Train services have been disrupted in North Bengal Lower Assam districts following a rail blockade called by the All Koch Rajbongshi Separate State Committee (AKRSSC) since this morning, official sources said.
    
Many long distance trains like the down Rajdhani Exress, down Bangalore Express, Kamrup Express, Saraighat Express and goods trains have been stopped at different stations like Bongaigaon, Gossaigaon, Bijni and Basugaon in Assam along with New Jalpaiguri station in Bengal.
    
The AKRSSC is demanding a separate state for the Koch Rajbongshis carved out of five Lower Assam districts and North Bengal.
    
The police have picked up nearly 200 picketers who were squatting on the tracks but the blockade was continuing with protestors not allowing trains to move out of the stations.
    
Senior police, civil and railway officials have rushed to the spot and are negotiating with the protestors to lift the blockade, sources added.
