Your dream of that cosy house may come just a little closer to reality. The state government is expected to announce the much awaited township policy in a couple of days. According to sources in the government, most likely on Wednesday, the government will bring out the latest and much relaxed version of township policy.

In 2007, the state has announced Integrated Township Policy but it could never be implemented. Now, the sources say, word integrated may be dropped as the Modi government has decided to relent to the demand of real estate developers. Following this, the developers would not be required to set school and some other amenities.

In addition, higher floor space index (FSI) may also be allowed as incessantly demanded by most township developers. "The state government may give in to the demand on the condition that developers in turn keep the prices realistic," the sources added.

Another major change over the 2007 draft of policy would be relaxation in the limit set for minimum size of a township. This would enable more players to plan and execute their projects. The sources said that most things had been finalised and the renewed policy is to see the day of light, soon.
