Tourist face no threat in Kashmir: Omar Abdullah

Amid reports of infiltration of militants from across the border into Jammu and Kashmir, chief minister Omar Abdullah today said tourists faced no threat in the Valley.

"There is no way to link inflitration with tourists. If you say infiltration has taken place and tourists need to go, it is wrong. If they (militants) have come, we will deal with them," he told reporters here.

Tourists faced no threat in Kashmir Valley, the Chief Minister said.

Reports say nearly 35 to 40 militants, most of them belonging to LeT, have entered the Valley through Kupwara and Gurez sectors in north Kashmir.

The Chief Minister asked separatists "why you try to create unrest in summers when Kashmir witnesses a huge tourist rush"

"If you want to create unrest try do it in winter. Why you do it in summers? There are so many people who earn their livelihood from the income generated by tourists. Why are you trying to ruin their lives?."
