Top Maoist leader arrested in Kolkata

Bihar police, in coordination with the special task force (STF) of the city police, arrested Musafir Sahni who is the area commander of CPI-Maoist's special regional committee in Bihar, Jharkhand and north Chhattisgarh.

Top Maoist leader Musafir Sahni, wanted by Bihar police, was arrested from central Kolkata today.
 
Bihar police, in coordination with the special task force (STF) of the city police, arrested Sahni who is the area commander of CPI-Maoist's special regional committee in Bihar, Jharkhand and north Chhattisgarh.
 
He was carrying a reward of Rs5 lakh on his head.
 
Though police said he was arrested from a hotel, an STF source said Sahni was taken into custody from the crossing of Raja SC Mullick Square and Creek Row this afternoon.
 
Joint commissioner of city police (STF) Rajiv Kumar told PTI here that Sahni was produced in the chief metropolitan magistrate's court which granted Bihar Police transit remand for the Naxal.
 
No arm was recovered from Sahni, who was stated to be a resident of north Bihar.

Sahni, also known as Anand, Alokeda, Alokji, Manik and other aliases, had 15 cases against him, including the attack by a Maoist gang on Madhubani police station in Bihar in 2005 in which four policemen were killed, sources said.
