The principal sessions district court will on Friday decide whether it would hear the revision application of the state police seeking custody of Sanjiv Bhatt.

Bhatt's advocate had questioned the maintainability of the application filed by the state. Apart from this, the bail plea of Bhatt will also be heard on Friday.

The state had moved the sessions court after the magistrate court had rejected the remand application and sent Bhatt to judicial custody on Monday. The public prosecutor had moved the application seeking Bhatt's custody for further investigation in the complaint filed by his subordinate KD Panth.

The hearing on the application was scheduled on Tuesday. However, before the hearing could begin, Bhatt's advocate questioned the maintainability of the application.

The court proceeding for the application sparked controversy when the court offered conciliation to Bhatt to accept police custody for few hours and get bail on the same day. Bhatt declined the offer.

The offer from the judge came when the hearing on the application of Bhatt was concluded and the court had reserved the case for order for Friday. The hearing of Bhatt's bail was also deferred to Friday when Bhatt's advocate will conclude his argument and the public prosecutor will argue to oppose the bail plea.

The police have contended that pending the hearing on application for remand, bail plea cannot be heard. Bur the court rejected their contentions on Wednesday and continued hearing of the bail plea.
