Six pilgrims from Lucknow and the cabby were killed and four injured when their van collided with a lorry at Mallavaram village, about 20 Kms from Tirupati.

Six pilgrims from Lucknow and the cabby were killed and four injured when their van collided with a lorry at Mallavaram village, about 20 Kms from here, today, police said.

The mishap occurred when the vehicle of the 10-member family, who were proceeding to the famous hill shrine of Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala near here from Chennai, collided with the lorry.

The deceased were identified as Meera (40), Seva Panday (46), Anand (10), Riddi (7), Sunil (45) and the van driver Rajesh (35). Police said they were yet to identify the name of one more woman killed in the accident.

All the injured were admitted to Government Hospital. Police said the family were on a tour to various temples from December 22.
