Three policemen were injured and their jeep was damaged in an attack by truck drivers near Jadupur junction on the Paradip-Daitary Expressway.

Three policemen were injured and their jeep was damaged in an attack by truck drivers near Jadupur junction on the Paradip-Daitary Expressway, about 30km from here, police sources said today.
 
The policemen on patrol allegedly tried to extort truck drivers and threatened to slap traffic violation cases against them if they did not pay up.
 
When the drivers protested, the policemen allegedly beat them up, sparking off the violence.
 
Kendrapara superintendent of police Narasingh Bhol, denied this and said that the policemen were beaten up when they tried to clear a traffic jam.
 
Among the injured was an assistant sub-inspector who sustained injury on head, chest and right leg. He was admitted to the Kendrapara district headquarters hospital, where his condition was stable, hospital sources said.
