Three injured in car-auto head-on collisionin Delhi

Three persons including two women were injured early this morning in South Delhi when an autorickshaw travelling on the wrong side hit a speeding Audi car, police said.

The incident took place in Savitri Nagar at around 2.20am when the women, residents of Tri Nagar, were returning home after attending a religious ceremony.

The autorickshaw was on the wrong side and had a head-on collision with the car driven by Apurva, a 26-year-old engineer who is presently pursuing MBA, a senior official said.

Apurva, son of a CPWD contractor, was returning to his Sukhdev Vihar residence after visiting a friend in Vasant Kunj.

Meera, 47, Vimla, 50 and the auto driver Kishore suffered injuries in the incident.

In their statement, the women told police the auto was on the wrong side and they had warned the driver against it. They also claimed Apurva was speeding.

A case was registered against Apurva and Kishore and both were arrested. Later they were released on bail, officials said.

Apurva waited for police at the spot and did not run away. He was not under the influence of alcohol at the time of incident, they said.
