Three arrested for attack on Naga students

New Delhi: Three youth were today arrested in connection with alleged attack on two Naga students in the city after chief minister Sheila Dikshit's office intervened in the matter.

The youth -- Shahrukh Khan, Sumit and Suresh-- in the age group of 19-20 years were arrested in Kotla Mubarakpur area in South Delhi.

The two Naga students -- Yun Sun, a student of Dayal Singh college and Nuito Chisi, a student of Vardhman Medical college, were beaten up by sticks and bricks on Thursday, police said.

The attack created an embarrassment for the city Government which has been assuring safety and security for the students of Northeastern states in the city.

Dikshit on Tuesday held a meeting with a group of students and a number of MPs from the region where she assured them security and support.

The chief minister's office has been informed that the Delhi Police today arrested three youth in connection with beating of two Naga students on Thursday, a Delhi Government statement said.

It is understood that the police has acted swiftly on intervention of chief minister's office in the case, asking for a speedy investigation, it said.

Meanwhile, the Northeast Support Centre and helpline today said they have received a complaint which said a Manipuri girl was molested by a showroom manager last night in shopping mall in Gurgaon.
