Thieves are not behind, strike at six places in a day

City’s posh areas targeted, property worth nearly Rs5 lakh stolen.

Thieves are having a gala time this Diwali. And it seems they are striking with impunity given the rise in theft incidents in the city.

What more, the thieves are not merely targeting loaded shoppers but also temples in the city. Around six incidents of theft have been reported from the city in a single day, of which one relates to theft in a temple.

The theft was reported from Ramapir temple in Ambavadi. Three brass bells worth Rs3,500, an amplifier worth Rs4,000 and cash to the tune of Rs2,000 was stolen from the temple. The cash was stolen from the donation box. The total theft is pegged at around  Rs9,000. Ellisbridge police is investigating the case.

Another incident of theft was reported from Chandkheda. According to a complaint registered with the Chandkheda police station, some people broke into the house
of one Kishoriben Parmar, a resident of Achal residency and stole gold ornaments and cash worth Rs 97,000. Chandkheda police is investigating the matter. In the third case,
a mobile shop in Nirmalpura, Shaherkotda was broken

into. The mobile shop called, Kartavya mobile is owned by Chimanlal Priyadarshi.
Mobiles worth Rs60,000 and recharge coupons amounting to a total of Rs 65,000 were stolen. The case is being investigated by Shaherkotda police.

Navin Trivedi, a resident of Aakash apartment in Ghatlodia had his laptop and cash amounting to Rs2.10 lakh stolen from his car. Trivedi had parked his car outside the Nabard office in Usmanpura. Naranpura police is looking into the matter.

Ramesh Kandhari, a resident of Harikrishna society, Sardarnagar had his bag containing Rs1.19 lakh stolen after two people came to him asking for directions.

Kandhari had parked his Kinetic outside a shop called 'Jugal Cycle' on the road from Idga chowki to Prem Darwaja when two unidentified men asked him for directions to Shahpur. When Kandhari was busy giving them directions, they snatched the bag that was kept near his feet. The bag contained Rs1.19 lakh. Madhavpura police is investigating the case.

A maid allegedly stole gold ornaments and cash worth Rs52,000 from her employer in Satellite. Surekha Desai was working as a maid for Sneha Nabiyare, a resident of Shashan apartment in Satellite. She allegedly stole gold ornaments and cash worth Rs52,000 from Nabiyare's residence. Satellite police is investigating the case further.
