Theft accused dies in police lock-up in Mehsana

Yogesh Choudhary, who was arrested in connection with a theft case died in police lock-up of Langnaj village police station, some 20 km from Mehsana, Ahmedabad the police said today.

The reason behind the death of Choudhary is not yet known, they said, adding that his body has been sent to Ahmedabad civil hospital for post mortem.

Choudhary, an overweight, did not respond when a constable tried to wake him up yesterday morning for routine roll-call, they said.

The accused was then shifted to the government hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. The actual cause of his death could be ascertained only after the autopsy report.
