RSS chief of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, Srikrishna Maheshwari today said the term "Saffron terrorism" was being bandied about only to malign the Hindus and garner Muslim votes.

"Those who talk of saffron terrorism are doing so only with an eye on Muslim votes," Maheshwari told reporters here.

He said a few activists of the Sangh may have been involved in some terrorist activities but this did not mean that the Sangh as a whole was involved in terrorism.

Many Sikhs were killed across the country as a fallout of Indira Gandhi's assasination in 1984, but this did not mean that the Congress can be dubbed as a terrorist organisation.

"Just as the Congress did not become a terrorist organisation in 1984, so also the Sangh cannot be linked to terrorism now," he said.

The RSS functionary said that for the first time in its 85-year-old history, his organisation would stage a dharna on November 10 to protest against the use of the term "saffron terrorism."

Maheshwari said the RSS has no plans to enter electroral politics, adding that it will organise Hindus in a big way to show its strength.
